The complete Sailor Moon manga is now available!

This is actually a late edition to the previous listing of manga and graphic novels we added to the collection lately. Sailor Moon volumes 7-12 are now in the teen graphic novels section, which means the complete Sailor Moon series is now available!

Otaku USA Magazine now in the teen section!

I'm happy to announce that we now carry the magazine Otaku USA at Sellers! The magazine covers "manga, anime, videogames and Japanese pop culture from an American point of view". It also includes preview chapters of upcoming manga in each issue. The magazine is bi-monthly, so look forward to new issues every other month. I've always thought it was a shame that Shonen Jump made the move to digital-only and have been looking for a magazine to fill the void. While not offering the same type of content, I hope that Otaku USA will cater to the same audience and beyond, with the inclusion of videogame and movie news and reviews. Our first issue is currently on the teen graphic novel shelf, and will be shelved next to the Shonen Jump magazines in the future.

Asian Culture Club--2/8/12

The Asian Culture Club has fallen into a pattern of having one anime meeting and one activity meeting per month.  While watching anime this month, we also had a drawing contest on the topic of "school doodles."  I had everyone draw their entries on notebook paper, just like you would when wasting time in actual school!

Asian Culture Club 11/23/11

The day before Thanksgiving, 21 teens came by to watch the amazing anime movie Howl's Moving Castle.  Thirteen of them were regular Asian Culture Club members and eight were visitors, including some college students home on break!  We finished off 14 bags of microwave popcorn during the movie, and also had a drawing contest on the theme of "buildings."  Here are some drawings that won prizes:

September Anime Club Art Challenge

Our drawing theme for the September meeting was pirates.  Check out the excellent drawings below.  I picked our usual four winners to get this month's prize, a Hello Kitty Pez dispenser.  It was a little girly, but I couldn't resist the Pez.  If you would like to join our Anime Club, we meet on the fourth Friday of the month.  The next meeting is October 22, so register now!

August Anime Club Meeting

Today was the August meeting of the Anime Club, right on the eve of everyone returning to school. Tim showed us some clips from the Sonic the Hedgehog anime movie, clips from the Japanese video game it was based on, and some bonus Japanese Sonic commercials! Our manga drawing theme for the meeting was back-to-school, so we also watched some school-themed anime clips. I had super-cute school supplies--piggy pencil sharpeners and panda/frog erasers--for the four winners. (I got them at the dollar store by H-Mart, if you want to track down some for yourself.) Here are all of the drawings:

July Anime Club Drawing Challenge

Sorry I'm a little late on this, but here are the manga drawings from our most recent Anime Club meeting! Our drawing theme for the month was "androids." I chose four winners, who got Pocky and fancy chopsticks. Also, thanks to Billy's mom, I selected the best contributor to win a giant kit of drawing tools.

June Anime Club Drawing Challenge
