Today we had to meet in the staff room because of the death of our evil upstairs air conditioning system. It was very crowded with 15 teens trying to eat and talk all at once in a very small space. I can't wait to get back upstairs again! It was such a messed-up day that we forgot to sing Happy Birthday to Sara. Sorry Sara!! And thanks for the cake! A quick note: book group will be moving to Fridays from now on.
Anyway, we discussed Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen. Marissa brought us each a feather from the peacocks at the zoo, which was very cool. We tried passing the feather around to the person talking, but it didn't work for us very well. (Big surprise.) Although the discussion veered off in many crazy directions (gay animals?!?), we did manage to talk about the book a little bit...
We voted to read A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray for our next meeting, which will be on FRIDAY, September 9. The cover looks boring, but give it a chance! Kaitlyn and I both vouch for it...it is a supernatural adventure mystery type story! Very cool. And a sequel, Rebel Angels, is coming out on August 23!!
